Food Pyramid
The following link provides a pictoral food pyramid. Talk to the boys about the different foods and then try some cooking.

Cooking
Having talked about the food pyramid have some fun by preparing and cooking different foods. Here are three suggestions that the boys could use when they cross over to Boy Scouts
GORP - Good Ole Raisins and Peanuts
This is good a snack during or after school, or when backpacking. This is a very basic recipre. Try experimenting with different ingredients such as M&Ms, banana chip, dried appricots, cheerios.
Ingredients
  • Unsalted peanuts - 1 cup
  • Raisins - 1 cup
Directions
  1. Mix peanuts and raisin in a zippy bag.
 
French Toast
Ingredients
  • Egg
  • Bread
Directions
  1. Break egg into a mixing bowl and whisk.
  2. Soak bread in egg mixgture.
  3. Fry bread until golden brown.
 
Bagel Pizzaz
Ingredients
  • Bagel
  • Tomateo paste
  • Grated cheese
Directions
  1. Cut bagel in half.
  2. Spread tomatoe paste over bagel halves.
  3. Springkle grated cheese over bagel halves.
  4. Toast bagels until cheese is melted.
